Teaching Experience

Jefferson West HS
    Art Teacher     1983-present

Mr. Ralston graduated from Emporia High School and attended Independence Community College on a football scholarship.  He graduated from Emporia State University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) with an emphasis in Ceramics and Glassblowing.  He also received a Bachelor of Education (BSE) and a minor in Business Administration.  Mr. Ralston received a Masters of Art in the Master Teacher program at Emporia State University with an emphasis in ceramics and photography.  Mr. Ralston has taught art at Jefferson West High School since 1983.  He spent nine years teaching in the afternoon at Jefferson West Elementary School.  During his teaching career, Jeff West has achieved nine Big Seven League Art championships, and had numerous students being accepted into the prestigious Kansas Regional Scholastic Art Awards Exhibition and other art competitions.  He coached football the first five years at Jeff West and has coached Freshmen Girls basketball since 1989.  Mr. Ralston continues to create artwork in his ceramic studio at his home in Topeka.  The Collective Gallery in Topeka displays his work year round. Mr. Ralston is married to Melanie Ralston who teaches Speech and English at Topeka West High School.  His children, Adrianne and Andrew attend the Seamen School District.
