Class Description
Child development is one of the prerequisites to Entrepreneurship It covers the study of the child from birth to age six. Topics covered include: day care planning, abuse/neglect and problems of working parents. Students are asked to set up a day care schedule, visit a day care facility, prepare projects or activities in the areas of science, math, music, P.E., reading, art and geography. They are also asked to complete a bulletin board project, develop a child’s book, complete a safety and health project, and critique T.V. programs and children’s movies. They have an opportunity to visit elementary classes to observe and work with children in a class setting. A variety of FCCLA projects are integrated into this course.

Materials taken from electronic sources are covered by this policy. A student who engages in any form of academic dishonesty will be subject to the loss of credit for the work in question, as well as other disciplinary measures. (JWHS Handbook)
Question of the Day
Question of the Day is an opportunity for you to be awarded 10 points a day, 50 points a week, with a total of 100 points every two weeks! HOW? Everyday, the question of the day sheets will be laid out on the desk for you to pick up. After taking your seat, turn your attention to the projector and a question will be asked that you should answering correctly to get 5 points. NOTE: The points possible are either 5 or zero. The questions will pertain to the previous day’s lesson, or reminders of rules or due dates. To get your 5 points, you must write the question out and answer it in one of the two formats of your choice, but both question and answer should be present.
(Example Question: Who is your favorite teacher? Excepted Format Examples: “My favorite teacher is Ms. Macary,” or “Who is your favorite teacher? Ms. Macary.”)
So, if you answer the question correctly, and by the correct format you will get 5 points, if you fail to do the correct format, you will receive a zero, regardless, if you answer the question correctly. After completion of the question, each student must turn the question of the day into the instructor to receive the remaining 5 points possible.
The other 5 points will be determined by the instructor and is based on that days participation and behavior in the classroom. If you are not awarded the points for that day, I will shortly explain the reasoning for the zero. Please come to me if you have a problem with the points, or feel like you have a good explanation for your behavior.
