Pat Happer, Jefferson West Superintendent USD 340
The Jefferson County Health Department is following the CDC Zika virus investigation. It is predicted that a type of mosquito known to carry this virus will travel far enough north this year to reach our area. While there are still many unknowns about the Zika virus, we do know that prevention is necessary. It is clear that we need to diligently take steps to prevent mosquito breeding sites and prevent mosquito bites.
As students head into summer break, you may wish to provide this educational information to their families. Attached are two handouts from CDC regarding mosquito control and mosquito bite prevention. Feel free to distribute this information as you feel appropriate. You may place this information on your website if you desire.
