FCCLA Fundraising Supports Student Tuition
The Jefferson West High School Family, Career and Community Leaders of America Chapter recently had a fundraiser to help pay for a student's tuition for one year from Zimbabwe, Africa. The student, Amanda Zambuko, is a 17 year old who wishes to become a nurse. Her tuition for one year is $395 and the FCCLA chapter sold Yuda Band bracelets made of leather, string, coconut shells and paint created by students in Guatemala who also benefit from programs such as these. The project was so successful that the students made $933.00 by charging $7 for each bracelet. One of the benefits of raising this money is that the entire student body from JWHS will get to Skype with Amanda and learn more about her. Leaders from the project were Becca Mitchell and Brianna Reynolds. In the picture from left to right in the back are Josey Dove, Adelaide Justise, Taylor Zwygart, and Jamie Osborn.
