Mission Statement

Educating all students to meet the challenges of tomorrow's opportunities.

Hello Tiger Fans!

The second quarter of the 2014-15 school year is underway and rolling right along.  I think we have had one of our strongest starts.  Everyone is settled in now and each grade level is well into its Kansas College and Career Ready Standards.  The kindergarteners are settled in and learning to be grrrreat Tigers!  The first graders are working on being fantastic readers.  Second graders are improving their math skills and reading a lot of AR books.  Third grade is doing some great writing and practiced for the state test that they take later this year.  The “Big Dogs” in 4th grade have been wonderful leaders; helping out in the ES in various ways and learning about the regions of the U.S.

All of this would not be possible with out the great help of the families.  We appreciate all you do to help us teach your children.  Recently, parent teacher conferences were held and we met over 95% of our families…AWESOME!  To help stay informed of school news and events please consider following the ES on Twitter.  I promise not to post too many selfies.  Signing up for a free account is easy.  Log on to www.twitter.com and follow us at @JWES_Principal.

The second quarter is going to be a busy one and the holidays will be here soon.  Music programs and Grandparent’s days will be part of it as well.  Call, write, or stop by and see me.  I love to chat with families!

Mr. Sturgeon
