Scholarship Information
LOCAL AREA SCHOLARSHIPS
All application deadlines must be met. No deadlines will be extended. All applications must be typed and turned into the counselor. Because of the interest rates on all certificates of deposit, the amounts of these scholarships are not guaranteed. Some of the amounts stated are estimates. Applications can be found at www.usd340.org, click on high school and find the Counselor/local scholarship link.

Frank and Mabel Koenitzer-Sayles Memorial Scholarship
A. High school senior, currently attending Jefferson West High School
B. Selection includes academic achievement, leadership qualities, extracurricular activities, character, and financial need
C. Students must have a minimum 3.25 GPA and plan to attend a Kansas Regents University, Baker University or Washburn University. A list is included with the application form.
D. Applicants need to submit a 2011-2012 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with their application.
E. Deliver all items together (application, personal statement, summary page of your FAFSA, and high school transcript) to Mrs. Amanda Rush, Counselor, Jefferson West High School on
or before April 3rd at 3 p.m.

A. High school senior currently attending Jefferson West High School
B. Must have a 3.5 GPA and plan to attend a Kansas University, College, or Technical School.
C. Attach one letter of recommendation from a community member, other than a family member, who knows your character and potential
D. Students need to turn in their application, transcript, essay, and letter of recommendation to Mrs. Rush by March 30th.
Meriden-Ozawkie Chamber Scholarship Application 2012
Jefferson West Booster Club
A. High School senior currently attending Jefferson West High School
B. Four $500.00 scholarships will be awarded. This scholarship will be divided into two payments, one payment per semester in the amount of $250.00.
C. Provide two letters of recommendation that speak toward your involvement and leadership in your school and community.
1. Must be an activity sponsor or employer
2. The second recommendation is your choice (community member or teacher)
D. Students need to submit their application to Mrs. Rush by April 13th.

C. Students need to submit their application to Mrs. Rush by by 3:30p.m. on April 20th .
JWEA Scholarship Application 2012
Meriden Fun Fair Scholarship
A. High School senior currently attending Jefferson West High School
B. $250 Scholarship
C. You must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
D. Students need to submit their essay and application to Mrs. Rush by April13
Ozawkie American Legion Riders Scholarship
A. Two $250 scholarships will be awarded to two high school seniors currently attending a Jefferson County High School.
B. Preference will be given to students planning to pursue a technical or certificate program at a technical school/community college and whose parent or grandparent is or has been in the military. Students attending four-year institutions may also apply.
C. Attach one letter of recommendation from a teacher or present/past employer.
D. Students need to turn in their application, transcript, and letter of recommendation to Mrs. Rush by March 30th.
American Legion Riders Scholarship Application
Catherine and Homer Thomason Nursing Scholarship
One non-renewable ($1000 min.-$2,000 max.) will be awarded to a senior Jefferson County student planning to attend an accredited college, university or Nursing School in the fall of 2012.
When Mrs. Thomason passed away, she wanted to establish a Nursing Scholarship program for Jefferson County. She requested that Denison State Bank, Meriden, will be the Trustee for this program. The Jefferson County Nursing Scholarship program will be rewarded to a student within any Jefferson County High School.
A. Have a cum GPA of 3.0 or above
B. Be well rounded individual, committed to community service and excellence in academics.
C. Provide letter of recommendation from a school, counselor, or someone in the medical profession.
D. Completed applications must be received in the counselor's office no later than 3:00 p.m. on April 6th .
