| Biographical Information Leslie was born in Hickory, North Carolina, to Al and Carolyn Keil. The family lived in Augsburg, Germany, for Leslie's first 15 months, while her dad finished his service in the United States Army. When Leslie was six years old, the Keils moved to Meriden, Kansas. She graduated from Jefferson West High School in 1984, as did her high school sweetheart and future husband, David Bruton. After graduation, Leslie went to KU for two years while David went to KSU!! The relationship survived the school rivalry, and they were married in August of 1986. Both transferred to UMC so David could finish his degree in forestry. In May of 1988, Leslie received a Bachelor of Science degree from UMC in secondary math education. She then attended graduate school at KU where she earned a Master of Arts degree in mathematics in May of 1991. After ten years, Leslie returned to her alma mater to teach math in August of 1993, and has been at Jeff West ever since. Leslie and David have three children . . . Ivey, born in 1991; Tanner, born in 1994; and Macy, born in 1997. Some of Leslie's "favorite things" include: traveling (especially to warm locations with palm trees and sandy beaches), quilting, KU basketball, Mickey Mouse, reading, watching old episodes of The Andy Griffith Show, and of course . . .
