Foundation Scholarships Awarded
The Jefferson West Education Foundation is pleased to announce that it has issued its inaugural education grants to fourth grade teachers Jody Lockhart and Jan Wells to sum of $1600 total. The foundation’s goal since its revitalization has been to provide grants to Jeff West educators. These grants, today more than ever, are filling the gaps created by USD 340 budget cuts. The funding for the grants have been raised from private donations and fundraisers like the poker tournament and winter sports banquet dinner. The Foundation is excited with anticipation to see the grant funds put to use. Mrs. Lockhart will be able to continue and expand her science fair program from 4th grade to all of the elementary students, while Mrs. Wells will be introducing a new reading assistance program using iPod technology to enhance fourth grade reading. Congratulations to both teachers and watch for more JWEF upcoming events like the return of the poker tournament and an inaugural golf tournament in the fall of 2010.
