Here is how it works.  Add the 2 digits and put it in the middle. COOL HUH!!

Classroom Goals

n     To achieve Standard of Excellence on our state assessments!!!!

n     To learn and master all of the skills that you need before going to 7th grade.

n     To gain self confidence that creates an enjoyment of mathematics.

n     To have FUN while learning!!

n    You must be able to…

  2.  Convert within the Metric System

 

  3.  Identify the different types of triangles.

 

 

So what will we do this year?

n      Decimals +, -, x, /

n      FRACTIONS AND MIXED # +, -, x, /

n      Measurement

n      METRIC SYSTEM

n      Angles – Acute, Right, Obtuse, Straight

n      Shapes –Hexagons, Pentagons, Octagons

n      Problem Solving

n      Sales Tax

n      Identifying triangles

n      Plotting in the coordinate plane

n      Elapsed time

n      Place value of decimals numbers

n      Understand translations, reflections, and rotations

 

 

What should you bring to class?

n    Textbook

n    Spiral/Notebook paper

n    Agenda

n    Pencil

n    RED Pen or colored pencil

 

 

What should you do when you walk into Mr. Schwinn’s class?

n    Make sure that you are prepared for class (supplies).  Sharpen your pencils.

n    Fill out your agenda on Mondays.

n    Think sheet almost everyday.

n    Get ready to check.

 

 

 

How will you be graded?

Approximately…

n    50% based on daily work, notes, and participation

n    50% based on tests

n    2nd Semester – 75% Test/25% DW

 

 

 

Will we have a lot of homework?

 MAYBE... If you don’t use your class time!!

 

 

What are No-No’s?

n    Writing on the white/chalkboard without permission.

n    Being late and/or unprepared for class

n    Going into Mr. Schwinn’s ZONE

n    Disrespectful actions towards classmates and teachers

 

Classroom Policies

n    Use restroom before class – Restroom break during class only with your agenda if it’s an emergency

n    Turn in work when it’s due – Late work 25% off!!

n    Sharpen pencils before class or when working quietly on your assignment

n    Do your best all the time!

 I expect that you do you best .  I expect that you assist all of your peers to help them learn.  I expect the best effort that each of you can give everyday. 

 Being Respectful, Being Responsible, and Being Ready to Learn will be the basis of this classroom.
