PowerSchool Parent Information for Grades 2-12

POWERSCHOOL FOR PARENTS

 

General Comments

 

One log in allows you to see all of your students who attend Jefferson West.  

If a grade seems unusual or out of character for your student, please talk with the student. If there are questions, contact the teacher.

Teachers will use abbreviations to explain the current status of a grade. 

Teachers will update the grades at least once per week.  The last time a teacher updated grades will appear at the bottom of the screen.  If you have questions, contact the office or the teacher.

Getting Started with PowerSchool

Open your browser (Netscape or Explorer) and enter the following address ps.usd340.org (do not use “www”) and the following dialog box will appear or click on the PowerSchool button on the web site.

If you have not created an account, click create an account.  (Click here for Instructions to Create an Account)  Enter your username and password, which will be provided by the school. The following general screen will appear.

Click the icons located in the menu bar to see the various options available.

Grades and Attendance…This screen provides attendance for the last two weeks, student schedule, current grades, and percentages for each class  (See Diagram 1).   Click on the percentage to see the list of individual assignments. Some of the assignments can be clicked for additional detail.

Grades History…This icon allows parents to return to previous nine-week grades. Grades will be historical about a week after the nine-week period ends.

Attendance History…This icon allows parents to see attendance from the start of the year, instead of just the past two weeks as provided by Grades and Attendance icon.

E-mail Notification…(See Diagram 2) This icon allows parents to request e-mail messages with selected information. Parents can determine how often they want to receive the e-mail messages.  Please keep e-mail addresses current.

Check the box next to the information you wish to receive. Select how often by using the pull down menu. (See Diagram 3)

Type in the e-mail address where you wish to receive the information and click “submit.”
Teacher Comments…This icon will provide a screen with the student’s class schedule and comments made by the teacher. (See Diagram 4)

E-Mail a Teacher – Click on the teacher’s name and you’ll automatically be taken to his/her e-mail if your browser is set up for e-mail.

School Bulletin…This icon provides the daily bulletin read to the students at the start of the school day.
