Jefferson West Preschool FAQs

General Information

  1. What age groups do you accept?
    We accept children between the ages of 3 and 5 years old.


  2. What are your operating hours?
    Our preschool is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. School days


  3. Is your preschool licensed?
    Yes, we are fully accredited and adhere to all state regulations for early childhood education and care.


Enrollment & Admissions

  1. How do I enroll my child?
    You can complete an application online or visit our school to fill out the necessary forms. Enrollment may be based on availability. Enrollment will be similar to enrollment in the other JW schools.


  2. Do you have a waitlist?

Not at this time, we are looking to fill our new program. However, if we become full past staffing requirements, we offer a waitlist and notify families as spaces become available.


6. What are your tuition rates?

Students that qualify under the State At Risk Criteria will get a half day free.  There will be a sliding scale for others or those that wish to attend all day. Rates are still to be determined.

Curriculum & Learning

  1. What curriculum do you use?
    We follow a play-based learning approach combined with age-appropriate academic and social-emotional activities to foster holistic development. The curriculum will align with K-4th grades at the Elementary


  2. How do you prepare children for kindergarten?
    Our program will be play based and emphasize pre-literacy, pre-math skills, social interaction, and independence to ensure a smooth transition to kindergarten.


Daily Activities

  1. What does a typical day look like?
    A typical day includes circle time, free play, outdoor activities, art projects, story time, and snack/meal breaks in conjunction with academic time for literacy and math.


  2. How much outdoor time do children get?
    Children have at least one hour of outdoor play daily, weather permitting.

Health & Safety

  1. What are your health and safety protocols?
    We follow strict hygiene practices, conduct daily health checks, and have procedures in place for emergencies and illnesses.


  2. Do you accommodate children with allergies?
    Yes, we have allergy policies in place that align with USD 340 and work closely with families to ensure the safety of children with dietary or medical needs.


Staff & Communication

  1. What qualifications do your teachers have?
    All our teachers are certified in early childhood education, and many hold advanced degrees and specialized training in child development.


  2. How do you communicate with parents?
    We use a parent portal for regular updates, newsletters, and progress reports, and we’re always available for in-person or phone meetings.
