Memorial Day (originally known as Decoration Day) is a federal holiday in the United States for honoring and mourning all United States military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Historical facts…
• Established in 1868 as Decoration Day by the Grand Army of the Republic as a time for the nation to decorate the graves of the war dead.
• A crowd of about 5,000 people attended the first large celebration at Arlington National Cemetery in 1868.
• Waterloo, New York, was declared the official birthplace of Memorial Day by President Lyndon Johnson in 1966.
• Declared a federal holiday in 1971 and observed on the last Monday in May conforming to the Uniform Monday Holiday Act of 1968.
• The National Moment of Remembrance Act of 2010 encourages a moment of silence at 3pm local time to honor those who died in service to the nation.

School's out for summer!!
Look for ways to relax and spend time with family and friends, or JUST HAVE FUN!! Before you know it, we will all see each other on Wednesday, August 13, for the first day of school, and ready to learn new things.
Have a great one!

We've got this!!

A little closer...

Good morning, Tigers! We hope everybody remained safe and minimal damage was had from the storms last night.
We ask that if you are attending the 8th Grade Promotion, that you park at the high school. And if you are attending the softball game, parking can be found at the middle school. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
(Can you believe there is only TWO days left?!)
Still counting down...

UPDATE: Due to the chances of Tornados 8th grade promotion will be postponed to tomorrow May 20th at 7pm at the High School. We apologize for the change of plans after a message was sent out stating it would go on as normal. Again no promotion tonight it will be Tuesday May 20th.
Stay safe tonight, Tigers!
8th grade promotion will go on as planned tonight at 7pm at the High School. 8th grade students need to be at the High School at 6:30pm. We will meet in the library at the High School to get students ready to walk in.
We will have a slideshow that guests may watch prior to promotion, it will be playing in the commons.
Due to the weather forecast for rain in the middle of the day and severe storm chances increasing at 4pm throughout the evening, tonight's softball games have been postponed. The Monday & Tuesday schedule will now be a Tuesday & Wednesday schedule.

It's time to get Tiger Power (Summer Weights) on your calendar, as well as football preparation clinics, summer football camps, etc.! This is open to Middle School and High School students.
See the pictures for specific details. If you have any questions, please email Coach Schwinn, jeff.schwinn@usd340.org.
