Ribbon Cutting

On August 12th, 2025, USD 340 Board members held a special meeting in front of the new Jefferson West Preschool in the form of a ribbon cutting ceremony.

In attendance were members of the board, Brad Neuenswander - Superintendent, the Moore family, Ozawkie alumni, new teachers and staff, several spectators, and the Jefferson West Tiger.

To give you a little insight, Dan Moore had attended the Ozawkie building through grade school and had the honor of cutting the ribbon with wife, Carol Moore. There is a special reason Dan and Carol were given this special honor. Fourth generation, great grandson to Dan and Carol, will also be attending the Ozawkie building, but this time it's a preschool! The Ozawkie building has been through so much over the past 60 years that honoring the history and the future of the building was more than appropriate.

Wes Sturgeon, Principal and Brie Williams, Director have been working diligently to make this vision a possibility. The Meriden/Ozawkie area was in dire need of a preschool that also tended to those with special needs, and that is exactly what they have accomplished. Ages 3-4 years are able to enroll with a tuition set at $700/month for full day or $350/month for half day. This tuition includes breakfast, lunch, and snack. (Tuition is set for those that do not have any at-risk qualifiers provided by the state.) If you are interested in your child becoming a Jeff West Tiger at JWPS, please follow this link and submit the form to Pam Walder at pam.walder@usd340.org.

If you have any questions regarding the preschool, please call 785-484-2455 (Option 2) between the hours of 8:00 - 4:00 Mon-Fri. We look forward to hearing from you!
