Jefferson West USD 340 joins all Kansas schools in observing Oct. 6-10, the first full week of October, as Kansas Anti-Bullying Week, part of National Bullying Prevention Month.
This week is an important time to amplify conversations about bullying, raise awareness and promote anti-bullying discussions and strategies in the community. It’s also a time to recognize the responsibility to safeguard schools to ensure physically safe and emotionally secure environments for all Kansas students and school staff.
Encourage Positive Actions
• Be a buddy, not a bully
• Choose kindness over cruelty
• Kindness is cool, bullying is not
Speak Out
• Stand up, speak out, stop bullying
• Don't tolerate bullying, speak up
• Be an upstander, not a bystander
• Don't let bullies win, stand up for yourself
Cyberbullying is Bullying Too!
• Don't be mean behind the screen
• Think before you click
• Your keyboard is a weapon, use it for good
• The internet is a no-bully zone

Today is National Custodial Workers Day! USD 340 wants to recognize the hard work of custodial staff who maintain cleanliness, safety, and a pleasant environment in schools, offices, and other public spaces. Why today matters…
• Behind-the-Scenes Heroes:
Our custodial workers work behind the scenes and after hours, making sure our buildings are clean, healthy, and safe.
• Essential Contributions:
Their dedication and expertise contribute to a positive first impression and ensure the smooth operation of our schools and other District facilities.
• Improved Health and Learning:
Research shows that clean buildings are linked to better health outcomes and improved educational performance in schools.
