At Jefferson West, we know that appointments are important and family vacation/special events create lifelong memories. We also know that being in school every day matters.
We have created this 2026-2027 Family Vacation Planner—to help families schedule trips and appointments during natural breaks in the school calendar whenever possible.
While we understand that some absences are unavoidable, planning ahead can help students stay engaged and minimize missed learning.

During post-upgrade testing, Skyward identified additional areas within the Skyward environment that require further maintenance and attention. As a result, the maintenance process is taking longer than originally anticipated as teams work to ensure a successful and stable upgrade.

A message from the JW Community Bond Committee: "The JW Community Bond Committee would like to invite everyone in the USD 340 community to join us for a Community Bond Discussion. Over the past several weeks, we've been meeting every Thursday, touring school facilities, asking lots of questions, reviewing previous bond proposals, and learning more about the needs of our district. Now we'd like to share what we've learned—and, just as importantly, hear from you.
Whether you're for a bond, against a bond, or still undecided, we hope you'll come.
This is a chance to:
✔️ Learn what the committee has been working on.
✔️ Ask questions.
✔️ Share your thoughts and concerns.
✔️ Help us better understand what our community wants and values.
We're not asking anyone to make up their mind at this meeting. Our goal is simply to share information, answer questions, and continue gathering feedback before making any recommendations to the Board of Education.

Monday, 6/29 through Sunday, 7/5 is Summer Moratorium per KSHSAA. There shall be NO school related athletic activities. During this time coaches (licensed teacher coaches and coach aides employed by member schools) are prohibited from engaging in any type of activity involving student athletes whether it be practice, training, weight lifting, conditioning, competition or travel. All Jefferson West USD 340 athletic facilities will be closed during this period to school personnel and students grades 7-12. If Jefferson West USD 340 athletic facilities also serve as non-school community recreation facilities, these facilities may remain open during the moratorium so long as no Jefferson West USD 340 teams are playing and no Jefferson West USD 340 coaches/coach aides are coaching the teams/individuals. During this one-week dead period, students may attend camps or competitions but may not do so with their school coaches. This moratorium does not impact fine arts or spirit activities.

This program is open to all Jefferson West High School and Middle School students who are interested in enhancing their athletic abilities during the summer months. Our coaching staff will provide structured workouts and guidance to help athletes build a strong foundation for success in their respective sports.
