Students enrolled in dual-credit college English read nonfiction selections during the first semester, including a memoir written by a Vietnam veteran. These seniors were privileged to learn more about the Vietnam War and one local man's personal experiences. Local veteran Ron Harper visited on Tuesday morning, and the seniors and Mrs. Sage appreciated his time as well as his service.

The high school Debate team has had a fantastic season and we have 2 state qualifying teams. The head to State on January 16-17 in Coffeyville! Congratulations Jefferson West Debate! Tiger Roar!

Our FFA chapter held their December FFA meeting before Winter Break. Officers started with opening ceremonies and their reports. We recognized our top sellers from our fundraiser. We had committee meetings where our chapter members, being led by our committee chairs, started organizing chapter events during FFA week. Members also received a FFA shirt from KanEquip. Thank you’s go out to Topeka for this unique gift. We are excited for 2026 and things to come.

In December, Dalton Cragg and Luke Bateman challenged themselves in competing in the Kaw River Arc Battle hosted in Wamego. competing again other students in Northeast Kansas. Dalton finished 12th and Luke finished 20th. As a team of two, where a team is three students, they finished 7th out of 10. Great job guys!

Projects in the shop are taking place! Some are woods projects by the freshmen Ag classes, while there is welding done by Advanced Ag Mechanics projects.

After our last boys basketball game in December, the team spent a day of their time off volunterring at the Topeka Rescue Mission. They assisted in the kitchen and Distribution Center, serving lunch and helping set up for the Shelter Christmas Party! TIGER ROAR!!

Another Winter Formal in the books in December! Our 51st one and Mattie Shaw was crowned queen. This years theme was A Night In Paris. A special thank you to everyone who stepped up to help make this a special memory. Congratulations Mattie!

In December, FCCLA got into the act of gifting for the holidays by adopting four children to purchase gifts for and deliver to the Methodist Church in Meriden. TIGER ROAR!
