Washburn Tech's event mirrors the NCAA's National Signing Day for athletes who commit to play sports in college. Students sign a letter of intent and don a Washburn Tech cap. The ceremony is designed to honor students who are entering a technical field and to celebrate the dignity of work.
Washburn Tech hosted the first signing more than 10 years ago. Now, more than 65 institutions around the country join Washburn Tech in signing students to a letter of intent.
Washburn Tech will sign more than 300 incoming students during National Technical Letter of Intent Signing Day on Thursday, April 16, 2026. Washburn University administrators will be in attendance to congratulate students on their decision. Friends and family are welcome to attend this special event to show support, as are local dignitaries and corporate partners.
There will be NO CLASSES at HCCTC on Thursday, April 16, due to Highland Art Day.

Members of Band, Choir, and Lakeside had 16 events perform at Regionals in Atchison on Saturday. Of those 16 events, 13 qualified for State Solo & Ensemble—and even more impressive, every student who attended is part of a qualifying event!

🎼 State Solo & Ensemble will be held at DeSoto High School on April 25th.
Dr. Brad Neuenswander, superintendent, was recognized as the Kansas Scholastic Press Association (KSPA) Administrator of the Year during a surprise event at the high school Friday morning.
Barbara Tholen, KSPA executive director, presented the award as members of the yearbook and news magazine staffs, along with students and staff, gathered to celebrate the occasion.
Dr. Neuenswander has accepted an invitation to attend the formal recognition ceremony on Saturday, May 2, at the University of Kansas.
This prestigious award honors administrators who:
Encourage academic and professional growth for both students and journalism teachers;
Provide personal support and encouragement for students and journalism advisers;
Ensure adequate and appropriate financial support for student media;
Recognize the importance of journalism within a complete secondary school curriculum.
Congratulations to Dr. Neuenswander on this well-deserved honor! TIGER ROAR!!
