The State of Kansas each year has school districts nominate one elementary and one secondary teacher to be recognized as a candidate for the Kansas Teacher of the Year Program. These teachers are nominated by their peers and will go through an extensive application process to be considered at the regional and state level. It is always an honor to be selected by your peers as an educator that demonstrates excellence in the classroom and cares deeply about students and their learning.
Congratulations to Sara Becker – HS Foreign Language teacher, Secondary Kansas Teacher of the Year candidate.
And congratulations to Amanda Hammond – 5th Grade teacher, Elementary Kansas Teacher of the Year candidate.
We wish the best of luck to both Sara and Amanda at the regional and state level competitions. TIGER ROAR!!

Bullying is not an option.
Never bully anyone. Stop friends who bully someone. NO ONE deserves it, or should have to deal with it. If you're being bullied, don't be embarrassed to tell your parents or another adult. They'll want to know, and want to help you.

They play in the fall and spring with open enrollment throughout the year. Players from all over the Kansas City Metro and other nearby areas are welcome and accommodations will be made for anyone who wants to play. There is no fee to play or equipment to buy. Tiger community, our Jefferson West FFA Chapter is looking for sponsorships for their Affiliate Membership Program. The program provides an FFA membership to every student enrolled in an agricultural class. Because of the membership, the chapter isn’t able to collect dues from members, and are asking local businesses if they would be interested in donating to the program and the chapter. Any leftover money would then be used to pay for National Convention, FFA Blue Jacket grants, and leadership development opportunities. Below is the flier explaining the different divisions of donations and what they include. If you have any questions or would like to donate, please contact Steve Buss at 785-484-3331 or steve.buss@usd340.org.
