Our girls & boys basketball teams host Sabetha tonight. Tip-off is 4pm. Admission is $5/person (K-Adult). Jefferson West High School students are admitted free with student ID. This is Senior Parent Night for our students involved with Band, Basketball, Cheerleading, and Weststeppers. The recognition ceremony will be held between the Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys games. This week's theme is "Pink-Out."
At the High School, the Jefferson West Education Foundation will be hosting a BBQ Fundraiser, 5:30-7:30pm. The cost is $7 and you will receive a pulled pork sandwich, chips, cookie, and water. All proceeds go to the Foundation.

Notable facts about FCCLA are that it was originally founded as Future Homemakers of America (FHA) in Reston, Virginia in 1945. That makes FCCLA 80 years old this year. Changes in the name occurred in 1995 when FHA added Home Economics & Related Occupations calling it HERO. In 1996, FHA HERO became what it is called today FCCLA.
Some employees of our school district who have been members of FCCLA are:
Wes Sturgeon held a chapter office for 3 years.
Carrie Bahr was a State FCCLA Officer in Oklahoma.
Kayla Gardner was an officer in our own chapter and is now our District Social Worker.
Amanda Hammond was a member.
Alex Thornburgh was a chapter officer for 7 years, attended four National Leadership Conferences and won seven state medals and four National medals, as well as winning a $500 prize for the chapter over Families Acting for Community Traffic Safety.
Amy Adams-Mitchell was a member and officer.
Jenny Lloyd was a member for four years and a district officer, having travelled to 2 National Conferences.
Leslie Abbott was a member and officer for four years as Songleader, Secretary, Vice President, President, and Sweet Heart Queen and has attended 10 National Leadership Conferences and Four National Fall Conferences as an advisor. She currently serves as our Chapter Advisor.

Our FR/C-team boys basketball team is on the road today to participate in Mission Valley's Round Robin tournament. The tournament begins at 9am, with an approximate start time of 10:30am for Jefferson West's first game. Admission is FREE!

Results from the first ever Big East League Girls Wrestling tournament are in!!
The Lady Tigers finished 5th as a team despite only fielding 6 of a possible 14 weight classes. Medalists were: Mya Vetsch - 3rd, Payge Vetsch - 2nd, Sophie Waters and Lucy Henderson were both League Champs. TIGER ROAR!!


Congratulations to the Jefferson West High School Scholars Bowl team! They qualified for State Thursday at Regionals at Silver Lake. They will be competing at State on February 15! TIGER ROAR!!
