Debate action takes place today in Seaman. Good Luck!

On Friday, November 8th, seven Jefferson West art students attended Washburn Art Day along with 140 other students across the state to participate in workshops and compete in competitions.
We are proud to announce that two Jefferson West students were the recipients of 3 out of 28 awards given at Washburn Art Day. To receive any award at Washburn Art Day is a treat because the competition combines big and small schools throughout Kansas and does not divide awards by the size of school.
Our seven participants were Olivia Meyer, Ben Powell, Abby Smith, Ashley Moser, Corbin Mayer, Sequoia Pulsipher, and Taylor Reynolds. All seven students represented our school well throughout the day.
Our winners for the day were as follows: Abby Smith – 2nd place – Drawing & Painting; Taylor Reynolds – 2nd place – Photography; and Abby Smith- 2nd place overall in the competition. TIGER ROAR!!

Come support our Jefferson West High School Cheerleaders on Saturday, November 23rd at the Stormont Vail Event Center in Topeka! These ladies have put in countless hours to prepare to compete for the 3A State Gameday Competition. They are competing in the largest class, so would love your energy and encouragement! Come cheer loud for your cheerleaders and show them the support they deserve! Admission is $16/Adult, $11/Student (K-12), Pre-K and younger are free.
LET'S GO TIGERS!

From Mrs. Conley, Jefferson West Blood Drive Coordinator…
Thank you for everything you did today – from donating blood to allowing students to miss class throughout the day to help out and donate themselves. We collected 46 units of blood as a community, and I was encouraged each time I stopped by the gym to see such a variety of people donating. These combined efforts make our community stronger!

It was a GREAT DAY for FCCLA! Last week at the Fall Leadership Conference in Horton, three Jefferson West High School students received Step One recognition awards...Chasity Simpson, Cheyanne Davis and Danielle King. The members went to three workshops over different FCCLA events.

Mrs. Dempewolf and several students are taking part today in the Empowering Workshop, and are representing Jefferson West High School WONDERFULLY!! They have been engaged, participating, and asking so many questions! If you see them, please ask them about this experience and allow them to share it with you! TIGER ROAR!!!

Calling all Jefferson West grades, sports teams, school groups, and community members! Create a parade float to compete for cash prizes and bragging rights! Line-up is at the Middle School parking lot to participate. Parade route will follow the High School Homecoming parade route.
Let’s make this the largest Christmas Parade Meriden has ever seen! The “Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting” will be held on Sunday, December 1st at 4pm. Come enjoy hot chocolate, photos with Santa and giveaways.
If you have any questions or need additional information, contact Jessica Schenkel at 785-817-8877. This event is sponsored by the Meriden Association for Community Events.

Jefferson West High School Theatre Troupe presents “The Auditioners” by David Rand on Saturday, November 16th, at 7pm in the High School Commons. There will also be a matinee showing on Sunday, November 17th, at 2pm.
The audition was supposed to be simple: prepare one classical monologue and one contemporary monologue. But when this challenge is taken up by a beauty queen, a stand-up comic, a slam poet, an Esperanto-speaking mime, and a parade of other crazies -- most of whom insist on doing the same Lady Macbeth piece very badly -- what's a director to do?
Admission is $5/Adult and $3/Student (K-12).

Students finished their last day of pie making in Culinary by creating a fruit pie with a lattice top. Other adventures in the kitchens this year have been chocolate chip drop cookies, brownie bars, no bake cookies, molded peanut butter cookies, pumpkin pie, double crust apple pie, cheesecake and today’s lab. Next, they are making breakfast burritos and biscuits and gravy. After that, we will collaborate with Mr. Spangler using the 3D printer to design our own cookie cutter and make sugar cookies.
Lastly, they will have their choice for their final cooking lab with one of the following:
1. Prepare a cooking show video
2. Prepare a food truck with menu and a main dish and side prepared
3. Prepare a foreign food study with slide show creation and main dish and side prepared
4. Select one of the Mystery Boxes where they pick a covered box and have to prepare a main dish and side using the ingredients (for this they can trade one item with another group, leave an item out, bring one item from home by one student).
YUM!!
